EMI Teacher Training Programs


1. Program Objectives
NCHU EMI Teacher Training Program is focused towards providing a thoughtful, targeted EMI teacher professional development initiative. Funded by Bilingual Education Resource Center ("BERC"), the" Self-Access Course: Oxford EMI Certificate for University Lecturers " is adopted to strengthen participants' pedagogical skills in EMI classrooms, and to produce excellence and innovation to transform students with academic mindset, intra- and interpersonal competencies.

2. Application Procedure
【Plan 1】
(1)Applicable to
The following who have never attended identical fully funded projects
i. All full-time and project instructors new to NCHU.

ii.Full-Time/Project/Adjunct Instructors who plan to offer the courses which meet the definition of EMI/ESAP/EGAP as referred in《NCHU Classification Criteria for English-taught Courses》.
(2)Application for Registration:
Complete the online registration form by designated deadline.
(3)Confirmation of Admission:
An admission notification will be sent to the accepted applicants. 
The accepted applicants shall:
i. Pay a deposit of NT$5,000 to designated bank account within the required timeframe.
ii.Sign and return the Declaration Form via email.
Should an applicant has not acted within the time limit, his/her
applications will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.
(4)Project Closure Process:
Participants are required to complete the following procedures by 31rd July of the current Academic Year.
i. Submit the Certificate of Completion (in PDF format) to the BERC.
ii.Complete the course feedback survey
Participants who complete the above-mentioned procedures will be eligible for refunds of their deposits. Should a participant has not acted within the time limit, procedures will be deemed incomplete and the deposit paid will be forfeited and non-recoverable.
(5)Return of Deposit:
After the deposit refund has been processed, the eligible participants will receive the refund notification via E-Mail.

【Plan 2】
(1)Applicable to:
Full-Time/Project/Adjunct instructors offer EMI/ESAP/EGAP course(s) in the current academic year who had had attended identical fully funded projects (e.g. "Certificate in EMI Skills Online Course" by Cambridge Assessment English) and successfully submitted the Certificate of Completions. Every applicant may only submit the application once.

(2)Application for Registration:
Complete the online registration form by designated deadline.
(3)Confirmation of Admission:
An admission notification will be sent to the accepted applicants. 
The accepted applicants shall:
i.  Pay a deposit of NT$5,000 to designated bank account within the required timeframe.
ii.Sign and return the Declaration Form via email.
iii.Return the Peer Observation Planning ; conduct at least one 50-minute class (or teaching demonstration) and invite colleagues into the participants' classes to observe lessons in the current academic year. Observer(s) shall complete the observation form.
Should an applicant has not acted within the time limit, his/her application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.
(4)Project Closure Process:
Participants are required to complete the following procedures by  31rd July of the current Academic Year.
i. Submit the Certificate of Completion (in PDF format) to the BERC.
ii.Return all observation forms to the BERC.
Participants who complete the above-mentioned procedures will be eligible for refunds of their deposits. Should a participant has not acted within the time limit, procedures will be deemed incomplete and the deposit paid will be forfeited and non-recoverable.
(5)Return of Deposit:
After the deposit refund has been processed, the eligible participants will receive the refund notification via E-Mail.
