【*New in 2025* Incentive Project】National Chung Hsing University Proposal for the Improvement of Students' English-language Proficiency

Article 1Purpose

  This proposal is formulated to enhance students’ English Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills, encourage them take EMI courses and make them to obtain credible English language certification.

Article 2Object:
   I.  Award for English proficiency test: Current Students at NCHU.  (Students from College of Engineering can apply this)
   
II. Award for study EMI courses:  Current Students at NCHU excluding from all-English degree programs and master's/Ph.D. programs.

Article 3Implemented by: Bilingual Education Resource Center (BERC), NCHU.

Article 4】Implementation

    
I. 【English Proficiency Test】In accordance with “English Proficiency Tests Comparison Table & CEFR in 4 skills tests” (see Appendix), the following awards will be provided to students who reach a specified CEFR level for 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in English proficiency tests taken during their study period:

       a. Students who reach the upper intermediate level (CEFR B2) can be awarded with a NT 1,000 gift voucher.

       b. Students who reach the advanced level (CEFR C1 and above) can be awarded with a NT 2,000 gift voucher.

       c. Progress Award: Students who meet the requirement of (1) and be awarded with a NT 1,000 gift voucher, can apply for another NT 1,000 gift voucher as “Progress Award” if they reach the advanced level (CEFR C1 and above) afterwards.

​       d. Each level of reward is limited to one person once.

   
II. 【Award for study EMI courses】In accordance with “EMI Courses Level Comparison Table” (see Appendix3), the following awards will be provided to students who reach the level

       a. The rewards are as follows:
           (1) Students who reach the E1 can be awarded with a NT 1,000 gift voucher.
           (2) Students who reach the E2 can be awarded with a NT 2,000 gift voucher.
           (3) Students who reach the E3 can be awarded with a NT 3,500 gift voucher.
           (4) 
Students who reach the E4 can be awarded with a NT 7,000 gift voucher.

       b. Each level of reward is limited to one person once. For those who have previously received a reward, when applying for a higher-level reward, the amount will be issued after deducting the total reward amount already received from the current reward level.

       c. Students from all-English degree programs and master's/Ph.D. programs are not eligible for rewards.

Article 5Application Period: From Jan. 1st to Oct. 31st every year.

Article 6For those who have received identical awards from departments, colleges and offices within NCHU, BERC will not provide any overlapping awards.

【Article 7】The rewards are supported from the Strive for Higher Education Sprout Project budget.

【Article 8】The regulations become effective after being approved by the President. The same applies to all subsequent amendments.
